Record group 89-278 consists of files relating to the development of state parks in Michigan, from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Parks Division (and its predecessor, the Department of Conservation) for the years 1944-1975 (bulk of material is from 1971-1972). Contains correspondence, reports, legal agreements and a few color photographs. The files documents the establishment of the parks, planning, organization, and funding. Some files document land acquisition in addition to detailing the physical plant of the state park or recreation area.
